The flagship BERTScope has everything you will need to perform receiver compliance testing, transmitter compliance testing, and advanced analysis. Featuring easy and flexible stress testing, physical layer analysis such as BER Contour and Jitter measurements, and a Compliance Contour view for Mask Test, it represents a breakthrough in insight and saved development time. Compliance Contour is a bridge between BER and mask testing, needed because of the requirements of standards such as OIF CEI and XFP/XFI. These new standards require compliance to masks at BER levels of 10-12, a feat beyond the capabilities of a sampling oscilloscope.

For serial data applications, the new model BERTScopes provide great flexibility in clocking. This includes many new clock divide ratios, in addition to the ability to add stress to an external clock — even one with spread spectrum clocking imposed on it. SyntheSys Research introduces the latest member of the BERTScope family. The BERTScope SPG is a BERTScope pattern generator with the ability to add stress impairments to an internal or external clock. This makes it a cost-effective solution for testing in applications where non-BER measurements are used to calibrate the DUT, and BER is measured by the DUT itself or a legacy BERT. It is also ideal for production testing where stress is to be set up for multiple test stations.

The BERTScope Digital Communications Receiver (DCRJ) optical reference receiver is a flexible, multi-functional instrument that complements the powerful signal integrity analysis capabilities of the BERTScope S. The DCRJ is designed for 10 Gb/s telecommunications testing, possessing both optical and single-ended electrical data inputs. Combine the DCRJ with the BERTScope S 12500B signal integrity analyzer for the ability to look deeper into device performance. Generate, measure, and analyze jitter from 5 kHz to >80 MHz to test compliance, characterize performance and design margin, and to precisely see and troubleshoot device behavior.
Whether calibrating a stressed eye or measuring a compliance mask at 10-12 BER levels, the DCRJ is the perfect complement to the BERTScope for greater insight in optical serial data applications. The stressed output of the BERTScope and DCRJ also enable jitter transfer and jitter tolerance measurements, providing the complete suite of telecom jitter measurements. |

Of all the methods for testing PLL compliance in PCIe components and add-in cards, the BERTScope PLA analysis instruments are the easiest to set up and use. Simply connect four cables to the Compliance Base Board, plug the instrument’s USB cable into any PC, load the software, and you are up and testing. No specialized instrument setups or calibration runs are required.
Pass-Fail determination is just as easy. The simplified user interface allows any user to quickly get the compliance test results they need, without complicated cursor setup or interpretation that is required using other methods. |
